Majad Hussain [2019] EWCA Crim 1534
The appellant changed his plea to guilty to 5 counts of fraud by false representation, 5 counts of possessing an article for use in fraud and was sentenced to a total of 4 years’ imprisonment.
The appellant defrauded members of the public into buying cars which were not as advertised; some of them had serious structural and mechanical defects exposing users to a risk of serious harm. When buyers demanded their money back, he refused to repay them, and they were threatened or bullied into going away. A number of false stamps and false service histories were also recovered from the appellant’s business premises.
The total sentence was not manifestly excessive, and the appeal was dismissed.
