Legislation – The Health Protection (Coronavirus, International Travel) (Amendment No. 5) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2020

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Health Protection (Coronavirus, International Travel) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2020 (“The International Travel Regulations”).

They amend regulation 4 of the International Travel Regulations to provide that a person who is required to be in self-isolation is not required to isolate themselves from a visitor to the place where they are self-isolating if the visitor is there to provide certain services including care and medical assistance.

They amend Schedule 2 to remove the exemption from the requirement to self-isolate for certain health or care professionals.

They amend Schedule 3 to omit Luxembourg from a list of exempt countries and territories from the requirement in regulation 4 of the International Travel Regulations to self-isolate for 14 days after their arrival in Northern Ireland.

They amend the list of specified competitions in Schedule 4 (which is relevant to the exemption from the requirement to self-isolate for elite sportspersons).

They also make a number of minor amendments.
