B&M Bargains has been fined £480,000

The store was prosecuted for repeatedly selling knives to children aged between 14 and 16 years, following a test purchase operation carried out by the local authority.

The store chain admitted the offences before Barkingside Magistrates’ Court. In addition to the fine the court awarded prosecution costs of £12,428 plus a £170 surcharge.
